The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUSO) at Khon Kaen University, together with two of Thailand’s top institutions, recently signed an Agreement on Development Studies. This strategic alliance aims to strengthen the academic standards of social development and social studies across the nation.

Participating Institutions and Key Representatives

  • Khon Kaen University (KKU): Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orathai Piayura (Dean of HUSO), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanapauge Chamaratana (Head of Social Sciences Department), and Prof. Dr. Buapun Promphakping (Senior Professor in the Department of Social Development).
  • Thammasat University: Puey Ungphakorn School of Development Studies, represented by Assist. Prof. Veeraboon Wisarathasakul.
  • National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA): Graduate School of Social Development and Management Strategy, represented by Asst. Prof. Jaray Singhakowinta.

The signing, which took place at the Dr. Somsak and Mrs. Patama Leeswadtrakul Conference Room at NIDA, Bangkok, marks a significant milestone in academic collaboration on social development studies in Thailand. It strengthens the collaborative network among the three universities in various areas, including:

  • Research collaboration and joint academic projects.
  • Knowledge exchange and the establishment of a joint academic forum.
  • Curriculum development to reflect contemporary societal needs.
  • Capacity building for faculty members, researchers, and students.

Moreover, this collaboration emphasizes the application of knowledge in practice to develop policies and guidelines that support the nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ultimately enhancing the quality of life of the Thai people and strengthening Thai society in the long term.
