Khon Kaen University Drives Inclusivity and Green Initiatives with ISAAN PRIDE 2025

“ISAAN PRIDE 2025” Drives Diversity, Education, and Environment for an Equal and Sustainable Society

Khon Kaen, Thailand – June 27, 2025 – The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUSO) at Khon Kaen University (KKU) successfully hosted the grand “ISAAN PRIDE 2025” event at the former Graduation Ceremony Hall. Under the concept of “Smart Pride and Environment,” the event was honored by the presence of Associate Professor Dr. Pensri Jaroenwanit, Vice President for Student Affairs and Innovative Business, Khon Kaen University, who presided over the opening ceremony. Associate Professor Dr. Orathai Piayura, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, delivered the welcoming report. Professor Dr. Thidarat Boonmars, Vice President for Enterprise and Sustainable Society, also joined the parade, amidst executives, faculty, staff, students, network partners, and the general public, all gathered to celebrate gender diversity.

A prominent feature of this year's event was the integration of social activities with sustainable development issues, reflecting a commitment to combine "diversity, knowledge, and sustainability" into a new way of life for contemporary Thai society.

This event not only aimed to promote the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals, aligning with SDG 5: Gender Equality, but also ensured that the collective voice for equality extended beyond mere expression. It focused on laying the foundation for a society that understands and accepts, from new students to staff and the public, consistent with the global goal of building a society that leaves no one behind, especially regarding gender equality. Furthermore, it aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, advocating for inclusive education that allows everyone to learn equally without stigma.

Concurrently, environmental campaigns were seamlessly integrated into the event. This was evident through the use of clean energy golf carts in the parade and cultural content addressing global warming and resource conservation. These elements highlighted that "Pride" is not solely about gender but also about being environmentally conscious of the world we share, in line with SDG 11: Sustainable Communities.

ISAAN PRIDE 2025 also received significant support from numerous external organizations and partners who contributed to concrete change. These include the Office of Enterprise and Sustainable Society, Khon Kaen University, which supported and promoted the social and environmental dimensions of the event; Top Charoen Optical, the main sponsor driving gender diversity; and special thanks to Khon Kaen University Press, Hunan Shutai Overseas Study Consulting Service Co., Ltd. (书泰留学), Class Clinic, CHEMii, Nas Alai Zing Limited Partnership, Srichan Nomsod, Dudee Chak Thong (Colombo Branch), Kangsadan Night Market, Print See Sud Suay Branch 1, Thongpoon Rice, J.K. Stationery, Lactasoy, CoCoa More, NETFLICK, and the International College, Khon Kaen University. Additionally, gratitude was extended to student clubs from all faculties for adding vibrancy to the pride parade. Every form of support is a crucial force in collectively driving society towards openness, valuing differences, and genuinely moving towards sustainability.
