The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Collaborates with Khon Kaen Provincial Prison to Enhance Inmates' Skills and Prepare Them for Reintegration into Society
On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Khon Kaen University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Orathai Piayura with the assistance of Associate Professor Dr. Wipawee Grisanaputi, Assistant Dean for Research, Academic Affairs, and Personnel, engaged in discussions about a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Khon Kaen Provincial Prison. The meeting was welcomed by Jak Limbut, Superintendent of Khon Kaen Provincial Prison, and aimed to explore cooperation frameworks, communication, and activities involving inmates at the prison.
During the session, both parties exchanged ideas and agreed on the content for preparing the Academic Cooperation MOU. The main objective of the MOU is to enhance professional curricula aligned with the development of inmates' skills. This includes programs in Language Teaching, Philosophy, Religion, and Buddhist Teachings, as well as the initiation of enterprise training to promote income-generating opportunities for the inmates.
The collaboration between the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Khon Kaen Provincial Prison marks a significant step toward improving inmates' quality of life. The career skills learned during their time in prison will help them reintegrate into society and bring values back to their communities.
