Chinese Major Celebrates Chinese New Year with Special Surprises
On January 28, 2025, the Department of Oriental Languages, Chinese Language Program, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, organized the "Celebrating Chinese New Year 2025" event for Chinese language major students in years 1-4. Assistant Professor Dr. Dararat Khamphu Saen, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, presided over the opening ceremony and gave a blessing speech. Assistant Professor Dr. Benyathip Supakalin, Head of the Department of Oriental Languages, gave a report at the 1st floor, Rattana Phitthaya Building, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University.
The event featured 13 performances from Chinese language major students of all years, including Chinese songs and mixed-style Chinese dance performances, both ancient and modern. The team with the most performance votes received the Popular Vote performance award. This was followed by the Best Chinese Traditional Costume 2025 contest, in which contestants dressed in Chinese costumes and creatively presented their attire. In addition, there was a special show from the faculty members of the Department of Oriental Languages, Chinese Language Program, who jointly prepared a performance to surprise students for this year's Chinese New Year celebration. Throughout the event, everyone enjoyed a Chinese-style banquet while watching the performances.
The Chinese New Year 2025 celebration was held to develop students' language skills in the program through creative performances. In addition to encouraging students to be expressive, it also trained them in out-of-classroom learning skills so that students can apply their knowledge as a guideline for their future careers and lives. It was also a good opportunity for seniors and juniors of all years to meet, chat, exchange experiences, and participate in warm and fun activities together.
