HUSO holds its 16th International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences (IC-HuSo 2021)
On 18 November 2021, Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences had its 16th International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences under the theme of “Education Transformation: Humanities and Social Sciences.” The faculty was honored to have Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul (M.D.), President of Khon Kaen University, act as the chairman of the opening ceremony, as well as present certificates to this year’s winners of the faculty’s annual Graduate Research Award for Outstanding Thesis. Assoc. Prof. Orathai Piayura (Ph.D.), Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, reported to the chairman of the opening ceremony. The conference took place over 2 days, from 18-19 November, and was held both in person at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, and online via Zoom.
The 16th International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences aimed to spread research-based knowledge and to provide a platform for professors, academics, and students to present and exchange on their research findings, as well as to foster a national and international network among researchers in different departments under the humanities and social sciences. Professor Rachel V Harrison (Ph.D.), from SOAS University of London, United Kingdom, gave the keynote speech, entitled “Education Transformation: Humanities and Social Sciences,” and on the first day of the conference, research findings were presented under the topics of: The Impact of Covid-19; Language Teaching and Learning; Urban Interface and Wellbeing; Sustainable Development; Public Administration; Human Resources Transformation; and Literacy, Discourse and Linguistics. Those who presented their findings had the opportunity to exchange ideas and receive feedback from experts in order that they will be able to further develop their research in the field of social sciences and humanities.
In addition, on 19 November, 2021, further interesting research was presented under the topics of: Gender Equality; Digital Transformation; History in the Mekong Region; Economics & Management; and Plurality of Society & Culture in the Mekong Region. Anyone who was interested could watch the presentations online or at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University.
