2. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM
The Doctor of Philosophy in Thai program (Revised in 2022) aims to produce graduates with the following qualifications:
(1) Having a profound understanding of the standard and local Thai language and literature principles and theories. Be able to apply knowledge to academic work and work development
(2) Having knowledge and competency in advanced Thai language research, both in Thai linguistics with the concept of linguistic theory, dialectal linguistics, local literature, and Thai literature, including being able to study and conduct comparative research on Thai language and literature both nationally and internationally as well as being able to raise the identity of the Thai language, local literature, and culture to the international level
(4) Having leadership, knowledge, morality, and academic/professional ethics
(5) Having an awareness of the value and pride in the Thai language, culture, and literature

6. QUALIFICATION
6.1 According to the Khon Kaen University Regulations on Graduate Studies, 2016, Section 5, item 21.4, applicants must hold a Master's degree or equivalent and have English language proficiency according to the criteria set by the Graduate School. In addition, the applicants should have sufficient background knowledge and potential to conduct a dissertation or other additional qualifications as specified by the Program Administration Committee and the Graduate School.
6.2 Applicants (1) must be a Master's degree holder in the Thai Language, Thai Linguistics and Literature, or other related fields of study; and
(2) have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 (Grading system of 4.00) or, depending on the Program Administration Committee.
