Khon Kaen University Hosts International Conference on Innovations in Language, Society, Culture, and Ethnomusicology

Khon Kaen, Thailand – April 18, 2025 – The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUSO) at Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts and the Asia Pacific Society for Ethnomusicology (APSE), hosted the international academic conference titled “Innovative Transformations in Language, Society, Culture, and Ethnomusic International Conference 2025.” The event aimed to promote global academic exchange and research collaboration in the fields of humanities and social sciences.

Held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the conference drew participation from over 100 scholars and researchers from both Thailand and overseas. It served as a dynamic platform for sharing research and promoting international academic partnerships, particularly in language studies, sociology, cultural studies, and ethnomusicology.

The opening ceremony began at 8:30 a.m. with registration followed by a traditional performance by the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, showcasing the university's cultural richness. Associate Professor Dr. Orathai Piayura, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, welcomed attendees, while Assistant Professor Dr. Charoenchai Chonphairote, President of APSE, highlighted the growing role of ethnomusicological research in the Asia-Pacific region and emphasized the expanding scope of international academic cooperation.

On the same occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, officially opened the conference, underlining the university’s commitment to becoming a leading institution in global research and academic excellence. He emphasized the importance of integrating knowledge creation with community engagement and contemporary social contexts.

Following the ceremony, attendees participated in poster presentations at the HUSO Learning Center (HS.03) and oral presentations held in multiple seminar rooms throughout the day.

The conference marked a significant milestone in facilitating academic exchange among researchers, scholars, students, and the public from both national and international.
Presentations spanned a wide array of disciplines including linguistics, cultural studies, sociology, anthropology, ethnomusicology, communication, and other branches within the humanities and social sciences.
