Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, KKU Hosts the 2nd Conference of the Northeastern University Consortium for Japanese Language and Japanese Studies 2026
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, collaborated with the Northeastern Universities Network and Japanese organizations to deliberate on strategies for elevating Japanese language instruction to international standards. The 2nd Conference of the Northeastern University Consortium for Japanese Language and Japanese Studies 2026 served as a formal forum for discussing academic partnerships, focusing on modernizing regional education to meet future job market demands.

This conference aimed to foster substantive cooperation among the Northeastern Universities Network through the exchange of knowledge, practical experiences, and developmental frameworks in Japanese Language and Japanese studies. The conference simultaneously sought the support of leading Japanese organizations with the aim to foster students’ academic development and learning opportunities.
Distinguished Network Participation
The event was honored by the participation of representatives from the Embassy of Japan in Thailand, the Japan Foundation (Bangkok), Hakuhodo Foundation, academic experts from Thailand and Japan, and academic staff from Northeastern Universities Network, including Khon Kaen University, Mahasarakham University, Ubon Ratchathani University, Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University, and Sisaket Rajabhat University. Attendees exchanged a wide range of ideas and perspectives throughout the conference.

International Milestones & Sustainability
This cooperation marks a significant step in elevating the Japanese language and Japanese studies education in the Northeast, by emphasizing the development of curriculum and instruction to keep pace with global changes, while simulteneously providing students with opportunities to develop their potential on the international stage.
The conference was supported by the Japan Foundation, Bangkok, as part of the efforts to strengthen and promote the sustainable development of the Japanese Language and Japan Studies network in the region.
