Multilingualism and AI in Language Education: Research and Practice
On 3 February 2026, the English Language Department, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, organised a special public lecture entitled “Multilingualism and AI in Language Education: Research and Practice” at Meeting Room 4A1–3, Rattanapittaya Building. The event attracted over 80 participants, including teachers, lecturers, researchers, students, and members of the general public.
The lecture was officially opened by Assistant Professor Dr Piyaporn Punkasirikul, Assistant Dean for Education and Digital Technology, with a report delivered by Dr Banchakarn Sameephet. The event aimed to enhance professional capacity and advance knowledge in English language teaching and applied linguistics research in response to ongoing global changes in education.



The programme covered key contemporary themes in language education, including multilingualism, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), English-Medium Instruction (EMI), translanguaging, and the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in language education. These topics provided participants with both theoretical insights and practical perspectives relevant to diverse educational contexts.
The keynote speaker was Angel Lin, Professor of Language, Literacy and Social Semiotics and a Top 2% global researcher from The Education University of Hong Kong. Her lecture fostered rich academic exchange and offered valuable directions for innovative teaching practices and research development in multilingual settings.




This event reflects the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences’ commitment to academic service, the strengthening of national and international scholarly networks, and the sustainable enhancement of educational quality and research excellence in line with international standards.
