2. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM

The Master of Arts in Mekong Studies (Revised in 2021) aims to produce graduates with the following qualifications:
(1) Have deep knowledge and expertise of the Mekong basin and its social and cultural dimensions, history, ethnicity, language and literature, philosophy, and religion
(2) Can research, think, analyze, synthesize, and systematically create new knowledge of the Mekong culture
(3) Can gain more knowledge effectively from self-study and apply the ability to work with others responsibly by showing leadership skills appropriately according to opportunities and situations
(4) Can communicate and use information technology to filter data effectively
(5) Have the morality and ethics of a good researcher together with understanding social differences in a multicultural society in the Mekong region

3. CURRICULUM AND TYPE OF PROGRAM

Total credit of study is 36 credits consisting of:

Thesis Course
The Thesis course aims for the students to undertake research work to gain expertise in applied sciences in various disciplines to be used in analysis and creating new knowledge for development. According to the graduate curriculum standard, Plan A2 students must write their thesis in Thai or English only and must register the following Thesis course.

Independent Study Course
The Independent Study course aims for students to have extensive knowledge and experience in their topic of interest which they can apply it with their career. According to the standard criteria for graduate programs, Plan B students are required to take the following Independent Study course for at least 3 credits.

6. QUALIFICATION

1) According to the Regulations of Khon Kaen University on Graduate Studies B.E. 2559, Chapter 5, Item 21.2, or in the latter revised regulations; and
2) is a graduate with a Bachelor's degree in any field of study; or
3) is studying in the last semester of a Bachelor's degree program
4) Be able to present a certificate from a professional doctor stating that the applicant does not have any communicable disease or severe disease which will hinder his/her education
5) Be on good behavior
