From 4–15 May 2026, Nawamin Chiaoklang and Phongphiphat Saengfai, first-year students from the German major, were selected to represent first-year German major students in participating in a prestigious academic exchange program at the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Both students attended German language courses alongside their Malaysian peers, gaining valuable experience and new perspectives on German language learning and teaching in Malaysia. This immersive experience allowed them to reflect on and compare German language learning systems in Malaysia, Thailand, and the broader ASEAN region.

The cultural excursions served as invaluable experiences, fostering deep understanding in diverse cultural contexts within the Southeast Asia Region while simultaneously broadening their cross-cultural adaptability and global perspectives.

This exchange program marks another important step for the German Department in enhancing the international connection of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, which contributes directly to the continued development of German language education in an international context.
