MOU Signing Ceremony with Wat Buddharam Leeds, UK
On September 30, 2022, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, representative of Khon Kaen University, organized the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Khon Kaen University and Wat Buddharam Leeds (Thai temple) led by Phrakhru Siritham Prateep, Abbot, at Wat Buddharam Leeds, the United Kingdom. The MOU aims to create a collaboration in academic services, such as teaching Thai language, arts and culture, and Thai self-defense (Muay Thai) for Thai people in Leeds and other cities in the UK, including the development of Thai Studies and Buddhism Curriculum, and conducting research in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences.
This collaboration with Wat Buddharam Leeds will help increase the academic network for Khon Kaen University because the temple is a Thai religious institution that promotes and propagates Buddhism abroad and is the center of Thai people and foreigners who are Buddhist. In other words, it is distributing the academic services of Khon Kaen University to society at an international level as well as preserving Thai arts and culture. In addition, the collaboration will increase opportunities for students of the Faculty to develop their 21st-century skills, the ability to use foreign languages, and cross-cultural communication through cooperative education, internships, student exchange, or other academic activities with organizations or institutions in the UK.
